Hello & Welcome to the JASIG Web page of IPMS(UK)

I'm Gary Wenko, the new coordinator (SIG Leader) of the Japanese Aviation Special Interest Group. I'm a keen supporter of IPMS(UK) and IPMS/USA and have been a member of both for more years than I care to remember. The IPMS is a group of like minded indidvuals who give of their precious-little free time to put on the best model show in the world. If you've never been to the IPMS(UK) Scale Model World, you really must attend! ... We support Scale Modelworld and the award the JASIG Trophy for the best model of a Japanese Aircraft in the competition.
Japanese Aviation isn't the unknown quantity it was 10 years ago. With the advent of computers and the Internet, so much can be gleaned with very little effort nowadays. There are the web sites of Hyperscale, J-Aircraft.com, Arawasi and and of museums and personal listings of aircraft and photos. There are models of aircraft we thought would never be kitted some years back and what we endeavor to do is share what little we know with others.

Our SIG strives to publish a quarterly newsletter with information about Japanese aviation aviation, models, reviews and questions to keep a thread of contact between like-minded enthusiasts.

A total gentleman, Peter Starkings, ran the SIG for the past 12 years and I have a tough act to follow. But you know, I'm a different person and I have different interests, so it would be silly to think it would be the same. I believe the SIG is as strong as the participation of its members and I look forward to the continued support of the membership with their articles, photographs and queries.

Modelling is a pastime and if you don't enjoy it and it isn't fun then you're missing the point. It's an inexact science and more of an art form, really, it's a personal endeavor and a function of time available, money, interest and obsession.
