IPMS (UK) Membership

This page contains information on:

Joining the IPMS

If you are interested in building scale models, then the IPMS is interested in having you as a member. It doesn't matter how much model building you have done or how good you are. It also doesn't matter if you are 6 years old or 76 years old. The IPMS offers a friendly envionment in which to learn about building models, show your models off and to see other people's efforts. Membership of the IPMS also means that you will receive our colour magazine (sample pictured right), and have access to our member services. To receive a sample magazine, simply enclose 4 first class stamps, together with your name and address, and post to the membership administrator at the address shown below.* Please note, the magazine you receive may not be the current edition (illustrated ...) but a magazine from stock.

Membership of IPMS (UK) is cheaper than you think! ... there are discounts for families, and juniors. Basic membership is £20 for an adult and £5 for each family member thereafter up to a maximum of £30 to include all family members resident at the same address. Junior membership is £8.50. In all cases, if you pay by direct debit the cost is reduced by £1.

If paying by cheque, cheques should be made payable to 'IPMS (UK)'.

A good first step to take before you decide to join the society would be to contact and visit your local IPMS branch. Click here to find out more about IPMS branches.

For further information, contact the membership administrator at the address shown below. Alternatively, just click on the link of your choice below, either .pdf or XL, download and print off an application form and join today .

Information for Existing Members.

Renewal Periods ...

Membership numbers used to include a suffix of “/1” to “/6” linking renewal to magazine issues. This system has been abandoned. A member’s renewal date will now appear on the address label for the magazine. The only suffixes now in use are “F” denoting a family membership; “DD01” to “DD12”; and “CC01” to “CC12”. The “DD” represents Direct Debit and the number the month at the end of which the Direct debit will be claimed. The “CC” represents a permanent authority to claim on an Overseas member’s credit card and the number the month at the end of which the Direct debit will be claimed.

Direct Debits (DD) ...

All DD administration is currently handled by the Membership Secretary, Gerry Carville who will also issue new membership cards after each successful claim under a DD authority. The issue will take place on or before the 15th of the month following the claim to enable the Treasurer to check that the DD has worked by reference to the bank statements and BACS printouts. Because the bank charges £3 for each group of DDs claimed there are only 12 collection dates in the year at the end of each month. Anyone who decides to pay their subscription by DD may find there is a delay in collection to allow the banks to set up the DD. The Treasurer will send a copy of the letter to the bank to the member as a notification of the collection date(s).

Membership renewal rates are the same as those for new joiners (see above).

Download a copy of the current Direct Debit authority, which should be sent to the address shown on the form.
