Regional Events 2008 including non-IPMS Events

May 18th ~ 'The Model Show' to be held at the Croft Village Hall, Mustard Lane Croft, Warrington WA3 7BG, approximately 50 yards from the old 'General Elliot'. Show open from 10am - 4pm, all proceeds donated to the British Heart Foundation.

May 31st ~ IPMS Salisbury annual show will be held at the usual venue of Wyvern College Sports Hall, Church Road, Laverstock, Salisbury SP1 1RE.

June 1st ~ IPMS Tyneside present the 'Northern Model Show' to be held at the Temple Park Leisure Centre, South Shields NE34 8QN. Show open from 10am - 4pm

June 6th ~ IPMS Ipswich are pleased to announce that SBX Model Shop will be sponsoring the 3rd East Anglian Model Competition to be held at the Ransomes Sports and Social Club, Sidegate Avenue, IPSWICH, IP4 4JJ. Entry fee is 50p per model. Non-competition admission is £1.00 (concessions 50p). There will be a Licenced Bar and USAFE BBQ, available from 7pm until close. (Big screen TV available in case of FA interference - again!). Competition Entry closes 8pm, pre-register to avoid delay.

June 7th ~ 'Flying the Phantom', a talk by Sqn Ldr Dave Hunt to be held at the 'Aeroventure' Museum, Dakota Way, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. This is the latest in a series of aviation and modelling lectures which is sure to appeal to all aviation enthusiasts, especially those with an interest in the fast jets of the Royal Air Force. Sqn Ldr Dave Hunt flew the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom in both Strike/Attack and Air Defence roles and went on to be the project pilot for the acquisition and rebuilding of former US Navy F-4N's and J's to Phantom F-3 specification for the RAF's 74 (Tiger) Squadron during 1983 - 86. He subsequently flew the Tornado F-3. Join Dave for the evening and learn about the RAF's usage of the phenominal Phantom from a pilot's perspective. dave will describe all aspects of the Phantom's career in British service and will be able to make comparisons with the performance and capabilities of it's successor, the Tornado.

Starting at 7pm, tickets are available priced at £7.50 and it's advisable to book in advance as there is a limit of 55 seats for this event.

June 15th ~ MAFVA Nationals to be held at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford. As in previous years the day is shared with Duxfords' annual Military Vehicle Show, the Military Book Fair and of course the regular exhibits and flying programme of the museum, all for the same entry fee. The Nationals will be housed in a large marquee which will be filled with a mix of club stands and a wide variety of traders, as well as the competition tables. Setting up will be possible on the Saturday, when visiting vehicles will also be arriving. Gates open to the public at 10.00 on the Sunday.

August 10th ~ IPMS West Norfolk wish to announce a forthcoming event ... 'Eastern Expo 2008', to be held at Pulse 8, College of West Anglia, Tennyson Avenue, King's Lynn, Norfolk PE30 2QW. The show is for anyone interested in modelling plastic of any shape or interest. Opening times are 10.00 - 16.00, admission will be £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for under 16's. Proceeds to the Alzheimer's Society.
