President

Paul Regan ~ 20 Salisbury View, Horsforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS18 5QP

Magazine Editor / Vice President

John Tapsell ~ 5 Ashlands Lea Road, Hixon, Stafford, Staffordshire ST18 0NQ

John Tapsell - Magazine Editor ~ My main area of interest is AFV modelling, mostly modern vehicles with some WWII Allied thrown in. Engineer and recovery vehicles are a particular passion. I prefer to convert and modify kits myself rather than using commercial conversions or aftermarket sets. I don't have anything against the aftermarket world, I just prefer the satisfaction of doing the work myself. I also build aircraft and the occasional car or truck but always return to armoured vehicles. I've been making models since I was about seven or eight years old, so that means a constant output for most of the last 35 years. I joined IPMS in 1988 and was elected to the National Committee in 1999. I have served as Competition Secretary and latterly as Magazine Editor. I don't have a favourite kit as such, but I pour my passion into whichever project I'm working on at the time. Once it's complete, I rapidly lose interest in it as the next project takes hold of me. I think the current state of the hobby is extremely healthy. Kit prices may be rising but there's more choice from a wider selection of manufacturers than we've ever had in the past. I don't buy lots of kits and I'd rather pay for quality rather than quantity.

Honorary Secretary

Richard Farrar ~ 20 Woodside Park Drive, Horsforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS18 4YG

Honorary Treasurer

Jim Chapman ~ 77 Sutherland Avenue, Petts Wood, Kent BR5 1QY

Branch / SIG Liaison Officer

Rob Monfea ~ 26 Saint Walburge Avenue, Ashton on Ribble, Lancashire PR2 2QT

Rob Monfea - Branch / SIG Liaison Officer ~ My main area of modeling interest is 1/72 aviation. I struggle with biplanes, so anything from November 1935 onwards really. I also occasionally dabble in Sci-fi and 1/72 armour. I have been modeling from an early age when I received my first kit (an Airfix Dauntless) from Father Christmas at Debenhams in the Broadmead Centre, Bristol in December 1975. My favourite kit to date is the Tamiya 1/72 Mosquito PR.IV. It’s an accurate, very well thought out and cleverly engineered model of one of my favourite aircraft of all time and I built mine with no filler required. An absolute joy of a kit!
I think that the current state of the hobby is healthy, but at a crossroads. Since the Global Economic Crisis, imported kits (particularly from the Far East) have risen considerably in price. I think this offers an opportunity to European kit manufacturers to regain the initiative both in their home markets and with exports of their own. Choosing the right subjects will be crucial (does the world really need any more Fw.190’s?) but I hope they can take their chance to seize it and build a solid foundation for the hobby for the future.

Alfie Bass ~ 2 Oakdale Close, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG31 8EZ

Webmaster / Forum Administrator

Nick Allen ~ 8 Oakwood Close, Stenson Fields, Derby, Derbyshire DE24 3ET

Nick Allen - Webmaster / Forum Administrator ~ Main area of interest is transport, I prefer the larger scales of 1/24 and above. Favourite kit is the Monogram Mack AC Bulldog, it's a 60's kit, simple yet superbly detailed. I have a couple of spare kits in the stash and a conversion in mind to a 1930's American Pumper ... one day. I have been known to dabble in the dark side of military modelling, mainly the larger 1/35 trucks and I have built at least one tank. There's also a Trumpeter 1/32 Avenger TBM-3 in the stash which will eventually be converted into fire bomber. Lately, I've been involved in the madness which is the 'Beyond the Box' special interest group.

Publicity Officer

Gary Stevens ~ 1 Sycamore Cottages, Hordley, Ellesmere, Shropshire SY12 9BJ

Membership Administrator

Colin Marrow ~ 2 Kenilworth Road, Cubbington, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 7TR

Colin Marrow - Membership Administrator ~ I was given my first kit, an Airfix Supermarine S6B, by my late father when I was six or seven and have over the last 45+ years dabbled with a variety of scales and subjects but usually go back to Airfix and military aircraft, UK WW2 and post war jets are favourites. I came back to the hobby properly a couple of years ago through the Airfix Tribute Forum which lead to me going to SMW 2008. Since then I found myself being volunteered for all sorts of things. Favourite kit? Airfix 1/48 Lightning, I have a couple of these in progress and hope to complete them soon. I also remember with affection the Revell 1/32 scale WW2 kits that I built in my early teens, now lost but would be happy to build again.

Direct Debit Administrator
